What a beautiful day for outdoor learning!
In connection to our food inquiry we took the opportunity to do some outdoor cooking - snow ice cream!
Here is the procedure we took: (we are working on sequencing and procedure - first, then, last)
First we put sweetened condensed milk in a bowl.
Stir....
Last (and best part) taste!
Update: Black- Eyed Peas
We continued our daily observations. We noticed that roots and shoots are growing!
We continue to make predictions as to what will happen next.
"I think the sprout will be purple because I see some purple parts."

The peas have grown - they are bigger than when they were dry.
We noticed that some of them have split open - can you see?
We brainstormed some ideas as to what will come out:
- "a plant?"
- "roots?"
- "a dinosaur?"

Mindful Monday - we did a "5 senses" meditation with Cookie Monster. Perhaps you can try a senses "eye spy" at home too!
Our letter of the week this week is Jj
Over the coming weeks we are going to be doing a large scale inquiry around food and identity. How does the food we eat help us connect to our culture and traditions?
We start this week with the book Shante Keys and the New Year's Peas.
In Shante Keys' family, black-eyed peas are a traditional lucky food. Shante finds out about different food traditions from her neighbours.
We are growing black-eyed peas in a sprouter.
We rinsed the peas today and they are just touching the water. We will wait and watch them as they grow.
Stay tuned to watch with us!

Day of Pink!
I had a twin today!
Gia made sure that those who did not have a pink shirt could still show their support for Pink Shirt Day. She made little pink shirts for others to wear. So kind!
