As part of our AHPS food drive, the kindergartens are participating in the great can race!

We staged a mini version of the great can race in our class.

We had two cans -one of chicken noodle soup and one of pumpkin puree. One is much bigger than the other. We needed to guess - which can would roll further?

We each made a prediction with the first letter in our name.

Here are our predictions.

Here is the ramp we roll the cans down.

How far will they roll???

If you are able, could you send a can or two for the food bank?We can enter it it in the great can race!

The letter of the week is Dd.

This week we will be reading different stories about the character David. Today we read No David!

 Fun Friday!

We started the day building on our ideas yesterday around vegetable soup. (Its Vv week)
We worked together in our table groups to make vegetable soup.

We had different jobs in our group. Some were cutting out vegetables, some were in charge of gluing and some were our writers.
We are working on our sounding out or inventive spelling skills.
This soup has:
BCL (broccoli)
CLF (cauliflower)
ONS (onions)
TM (tomato)
CAL (celery)

This soup has:

AS (asparagus)

CBG (cabbage)

BROL (broccoli)

ON (onion)

All week (and into next week) we have had lots of fun in our drama centre. It is set up like a Vet's office.

As we do every Fun Friday, we read my favourite - Elephant and Piggy! This week we read My New Friend is So Fun!

Thursday 1 December 2022

We continue to work on the "et" word family

Can you read the words in our 'word search'?

For Vv week - we made vegetable soup.
Here is the rhyme we learned to go with it;
Chop chop chipity chop
Cut of the bottom
And cut of the top
What we have left...
We'll throw in the pot!
Chop chop chipity chop.

I was in for this soup until the last ingredient...

We read "Sometimes I Grumblesquinch."
We are reinforcing our learning about the zones.
Katie was in the green zone, then the blue zone and then she was in the red zone.
How could she help herself when she felt she was headed into the red zone?

"She could have asked for some space."

"She could have counted to ten."

"She could have gotten a sip of water."

"She could have taken a deep breath."

All great ideas!
